Electrolytic Nickel

Electrolytic Nickel

Electrolytic nickel requires a catalyst and direct current to deposit the nickel layer on to the substrate. Electrolytic nickel plating can increase the durability, hardness, conductivity, heat-resistance, and corrosion protection of parts. CTI offers dull sulfamate nickel (Type 1) and semi-bright nickel (Type 2) processes on copper and brass substrates.

Advantages of Electrolytic Nickel Plating:

■ Pure nickel deposit
■ Ductility high enough to meet or exceed AMS 2424
■ Withstands post-plate firing temperatures of 1,000°C (1,832°F)
■ Microhardness typically ranges below 300 HV

Specifications and Standards:

■ MIL-P-27418
■ ASTM B689
■ QQ-N-290
