Passivation

Passivation

Passivation is the process used to make the stainless steel “passive”, so the base layer is less affected and corroded by the environment. Through passivation, the free iron or other foreign matter is removed from the stainless steel. Benefits of passivation include a barrier against rust, extended product life, and removal of contamination from the stainless steel.

CTI offers multiple types of Nitric Acid passivation and multiple acceptance tests (copper sulfate, high humidity, and salt spray).

Specifications and Standards:

■ AMS 2700
